    The Republic of Indonesia is the largest archipelago in the world comprising 17,504 large and small tropical islands fringed with white sandy beaches, many still uninhabited and a number even still unnamed. Straddling the equator, situated between the continents of Asia and Australia and between the Pacific and the Indian Oceans.  Indonesia has a total population of more than 215 million people from more than 200 ethnic groups. The national language is Bahasa Indonesia.Indonesia takes the 4th place in the world on attendance tourists.

    The capital of Indonesia — Jakarta. Among the most well known islands are Sumatra, Java, Bali, Kalimantan (formerly Borneo), Sulawesi (formerly Celebes), the Maluku Islands (or better known as Moluccas, the original Spice Islands) and Papua. Then, there is Bali “the world’s best island resort” with its enchanting culture, beaches, dynamic dances and music. But Indonesia still has many unexplored islands with grand mountain views, green rainforests to trek through, rolling waves to surf and deep blue pristine seas to dive in where one can swim with dugongs, dolphins and large mantarays. 

    Bali is one of more than 17,000 islands in the Indonesian archipelago and is located just over 2 kilometres (almost 1.5 miles) from the eastern tip of the island of Java and west of the island of Lombok. The island, home to about 4 million people, is approximately 144 kilometres (90 mi.) from east to west and 80 kilometres (50 mi.) north to south.

   The word "paradise" is used a lot in Bali and not without reason. The combination of friendly, hospitable people, a magnificently visual culture infused with spirituality and (not least) spectacular beaches with great surfing and diving have made Bali Indonesia's unrivaled number one tourist attraction.     In spite of the fact that, Indonesia is the biggest Muslim country, the population of the island of Bali professes Hinduism. Bali is alike the state in the state, religion gives it originality and uniqueness.    Bali has a tropical climate appropriate to its proximity to the equator. Year round temperatures averaging 31 degrees Celsius. High humidity can be expected during the Wet Season between the  months of October - April. The Dry Season between the months of May - September have also the lowest humidity.

   The Wet Season brings daily rain and quiet overcast days with the most rain recorded between December - February. Occasionally rainfall can also be expected during the dry season but usually at night or very early morning. June - August there is usually a very refreshing cool breeze all day long. The central mountain area is typically cooler than the lower coastal areas mainly especially at  night

    Indonesia and bali can present to fans of purchase the best shopping in the world. In Kuta and Legiana you can acquire cheap and qualitative clothes, in Seminyak there are a lot of luxury and expensive boutiques. The Indonesian souvenirs are very popular: batic, nacre, national figures and figurines. The national crafts are very developed: woodcarving, art, jewelry will always remind you of the fairy-tale-country.

    Bali amazes even experienced travelers by bazaars: exotic fruit, vegetables and seasonings, spices and sweets, but … don't forget to bargain. Here, as well as on any east bazaar, marketeers respect the person who may buy with a discount.

    Pottery, woodcarving and stone carving are known to the world.

    Bali is a great place to stock up on summer and beach wear.

    Now having said all that, if you are really a serious shopper, then buy more of the craft stuff in Ubud and then head to Seminyak/Legian and Kuta for more clothes/shoes, funky, surf stuff, etc.

Balinese cuisine


    Balinese cuisine has Indonesian cuisine, Chinese cuisine and Indian cuisine influences. The island's inhabitants are predominantly Hindu and culinary traditions are somewhat distinct with festivals and religious celebrations including many foods in the celebrations. Rice as a staple accompanied by vegetables, meat and seafood. As a popular tourist area, many westernized foods are also available as well as other regional ethnic cuisines. Pigs, chickens, fruit, vegetables and seafood are widely utilized.

    Tree of the most famous items in Balinese cuisine are lawar, babi guling and Bebek betutu.

    Lawar is one of Bali’s most famous local dishes. Made from coconut, garlic, chilli, with pork or chicken meat and blood, lawar can be found in every village in Bali.

    Babi guling (a spit-roasted pig stuffed with chilli, turmeric, garlic, and ginger) is Bali’s most famous dish. Ask a Balinese person what their favourite food is and there is a good chance they’ll say “Bali guling”. Indonesia is a Muslim country, so pork isn’t celebrated as it is here in Bali. The Balinese however often keep pigs at home behind the house, feeding on food scraps, for that important time when they will be killed and eaten. The young suckling pig is used because of its tenderness, spit-roasted to perfection. Finding Bali Guling is a bit hard in tourist areas as it takes a while to prepare and is not really a dish most foreigners will ask for. As soon as you get away from the tourist scene in Kuta/Seminyak and head to Kerobokan, Mengwi, Ubud, or any other local place, the babi guling stands pop up.

    Bebek betutu is duck stuffed with spices, wrapped in banana leaves and coconut husks cooked in a pit of embers.

    Night markets, warungs (food stands), and fruit vendors sell local delicacies. Festivals include ornately prepared foods as part of the celebrations.

    Balinese coffee, Kopi Bali, and hot tea, teh panas are popular. Tea is often served with sugar (gula) and condensed milk, susu.

    Bali is popular with tourists and the area has cooking schools with daily courses.


Entertainments, excursions and sights of Indonesia (Bali)


    The Island of Bali is not big: from the western coast to east – 150 kilometers, from northern to southern – 80. There you may visit the ethnographic museum "Negeri Propinsi", the Center of arts of Taman Budaya Bali, the temple Pura Besakih complex (Mother Temple), surrounded with Royal Temple water, Taman-Ayun Temple in Mengwi, "Temple in the middle of the lake " Ulun Danu, the well-known craft and ethnographic center with the museum "Puri-Lukisan" in Ubuda.

    Nusa Dua resort: as a resort this place has developed in the eighties as the luxurious and democratic resort. There are tennis courts, golf courses, fountains and lawns, and certainly, high level of service.

    Jimbaran resort: is more suitable for fans of outdoor sea activities. Windsurfing, diving and snorkeling - all this has to make all thrill-seekers happy. Jimbaran is famous for east kitchen also.

    The resort Kuta: Hotels, restaurants, night clubs and fashionable boutiques. All this is here on Kuta. On a small slice of the coast, along 6 kilometers, from ninetieth years of the last century there is "a heart of Bali".

    The resort Ubud: Ubud is the most luxurious of all variety of Balinese  hotels. Ubud is located far from the sea coast in an environment of mountains and rice terraces. Ubuda's landscapes listed as the most beautiful in Asia. You may feel the mood and spirit of Indonesia here.

    The Tanjung Benoa resort : if you wish no-expensive rest and silent beach, Tanjung Benoa is that place. This resort  is constructed on a place of the quiet fishing village and assimilated of tropical life.     Lovina resort: The main sight of this resort is the black beach. Sand is painted by a volcanic ash, because of that the coast looks fantastic.  The large centers of diving are located on Lovina because the local coast is ideally for this purpose.
